Lid Ptosis (droopy eyelids)

Eyelids commonly drop as part of the aging process. Less commonly this can happen due to other problems with the nerves or muscles and some people are born with low eyelids. There are a variety of different procedures available to raise eyelids.

This is a very common problem which doctors from a variety of disciplines (ENT, plastic surgery) will offer treatment for. The eyelids protect the eye from drying out. If the eye does dry, ulceration, infection and sight loss can occur. When operating to raise the lids it is important to strike the right balance with raising the lid and risking eye dryness. This is why I’d advise you to have your surgery done by a surgeon able to evaluate this risk fully to avoid any problems and also manage any problem after.
